We’re looking for brilliant people to help us build the future of payments in Africa.

Our mission is to power the next generation of inclusive commerce in Africa. 🌍 If businesses can offer customers more accessible, flexible payment options, we can unlock multiplied economic growth on the continent. This starts with offering the most locally-relevant payment methods, with intuitive payment journeys that optimise customer conversion, success rates, and repeat purchases.

Our story

Revio was founded in 2020 to based on the insight that there is more to getting paid than accepting payments. Co-founder and CEO, Ruaan Botha, was inspired to start the company by seeing how much time and manual effort businesses spend on their payment operations, including managing failed payments and chasing churned customers. When asking 30+ businesses where they would invest $1 if they had to fix their payment systems, they all unhesitatingly confirmed they’d spend at least 90c on increasing payment success rates.

It turned out that this was a much bigger problem that he had initially thought. In African markets, 30% of payments fail on average, costing businesses billions of dollars in lost revenue each year. Businesses face a 300%+ higher churn rate than the global average, with up to 40% of this churn attributable to payment failures. Combined with rapid growth in digital payments, businesses are facing increasingly complex payment operations, that hinder sustainable, inclusive commerce on the continent.

Today, Revio is an Africa-focused payment orchestration platform that minimizes the complexity, cost, and risk of payment operations, to help merchants reach and retain more customers. Through a single PCI-compliant platform and API, global and local merchants can access 70+ payment methods, set up configurable routing and retry rules, and dynamically engage customers throughout the payment journey.
